Job description

About The Role

As a Digital Learning Designer, you will join our Learning & Development team to design and create engaging, accessible and effective digital learning experiences for colleagues across OCS.

Working closely with your line manager, you will explore learning needs, brainstorm ideas and develop creative solutions to challenges brought to the team. Projects will vary widely, from eLearning on topics such as safeguarding or Modern Slavery, to supporting new systems and wider Learning & Development initiatives.

The role goes beyond eLearning. You will also create resources such as videos, guides, manuals, presentations, forms and job aids, helping to identify the right solution for each learning need.

OCS is a fast-paced organisation, so you will need to be comfortable managing multiple projects, working with stakeholders and subject matter experts, and adapting to changing priorities.

This role is suited to someone with relevant L&D, training or content creation experience who is looking to further develop their career in digital learning.

Key Responsibilities
Digital Learning Design & Development
  • Design and develop engaging eLearning and digital learning resources for colleagues across OCS.
  • Work closely with your line manager to brainstorm ideas and develop creative solutions to learning needs and challenges brought to the Digital Learning team.
  • Explore the purpose, audience and desired outcome of learning requests to help identify the most appropriate solution.
  • Recognise that eLearning may not always be the best solution and contribute ideas for alternative approaches where appropriate.
  • Use tools such as Articulate 360 to create interactive and engaging eLearning experiences.
  • Create and edit video-based learning content using tools such as Synthesia.
  • Develop additional learning resources including guides, manuals, presentations, job aids, digital forms and supporting documents.
  • Turn complex or technical information into learning that is clear, practical and easy to understand.
  • Consider the needs of the learner throughout the design process, including accessibility, usability and different levels of digital confidence.
  • Bring creativity and new ideas to projects while ensuring learning meets the intended business need.
  • Review and update existing learning content to ensure it remains accurate, relevant and effective.
  • Explore new tools and technologies, including AI, that could enhance how learning content is designed and delivered.
About You

We're looking for someone with previous experience or knowledge of Learning & Development who is ready to develop their career within digital learning.

You'll have experience creating learning, training or digital resources, with a creative approach and an interest in designing engaging and effective learning experiences.

Essential Criteria
  • Previous experience within Learning & Development, Human Resources, training or a similar people‑focused area, or relevant exposure to Learning & Development or workplace learning.
  • Previous experience creating learning, training or digital resources, with examples of content you have developed.
  • A genuine interest in digital learning, eLearning and learning design.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to contribute ideas and potential solutions.
  • Good written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Confidence using digital technology and learning new systems and tools.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Good organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple pieces of work at the same time.
  • Ability to take ownership of your workload and work independently when required.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment where priorities and deadlines can change.
  • An understanding of the importance of creating inclusive and accessible learning experiences for different audiences.
Desirable Criteria
  • Previous experience using Articulate 360, including Storyline or Rise.
  • Experience using Synthesia or other video creation and editing tools.
  • Experience using eLearning authoring or digital content creation tools.
  • An understanding of learning design or instructional design principles.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts to develop learning or training resources.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems.
  • Experience using Microsoft Forms.
  • Experience using AI or emerging technologies to support content creation.

Previous experience with Articulate, Synthesia or other eLearning creation tools would be a strong advantage. However, we're also interested in candidates who have relevant L&D experience and can demonstrate that they have already created effective learning or training resources using other tools.

What Success Looks Like

Success means creating engaging learning that genuinely helps colleagues understand and apply what they need to know.

You’ll work closely with your line manager to solve problems, develop ideas and turn learning needs into effective solutions. As you develop, you’ll take increasing ownership of projects from initial request through to design, development and launch.

You’ll bring creativity, curiosity and new ideas to the team, while managing your workload effectively and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
