Job summary

Space is seeking a friendly, patient Digital Inclusion Worker to join our Community Learning and Development team in South West Edinburgh, based at The Broomhouse Hub. You will support people to build confidence with digital devices and online tools through group sessions and personalised help.

The role focuses on widening access to digital skills, helping learners apply for jobs, access services and save money, with one-to-one coaching and community outreach.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect with people of all ages.
• Patient, positive, supportive and inclusive teaching style.
• Confidence using digital devices and common applications and online tools.
• Motivated, highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload.
• Understanding of health & safety practices including safeguarding and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and deliver digital group drop-in sessions to meet project objectives.
• Consult with participants to ensure content is engaging and relevant to their needs.
• Provide targeted 1:1 support to learners.
• Create promotional material and network locally to attract people to the service.
• Maintain project records on a database and handle administration.
• Evaluate project progress to demonstrate impact for funder reporting.
• Stay aware of local job vacancies, placements and volunteering opportunities to signpost.
• Recruit and support volunteers in the project.
• Ensure safety of participants and volunteers through safeguarding practices.
• Share knowledge and best practice within the Community Learning and Development team.

About the role:

Space is looking for a friendly, patient and motivated Digital Inclusion Worker to join our Community Learning and Development team.

Our digital inclusion project supports people across South West Edinburgh to build the confidence and skills to thrive in a digital world. Our aim is to help people realise their potential through learning, connection, removing barriers and opening the door to opportunities.You don’t need to be a digital guru to carry out this role. A good basic knowledge of how to use digital devices, and confidence with using common applications and online tools is important, but your ability to connect with and support learners is the key skill.The Digital Inclusion Worker will provide face to face digital support via group and 1:1 sessions, delivered within The Broomhouse Hub, working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities. You will build positive connections with learners in order to develop their practical digital abilities with the aim of increasing their independence and improving their wellbeing and quality of life.No two days will be the same; In this role you will be helping people to carry out a variety of digital tasks including using a smartphone/tablet/laptop, searching and applying for jobs, locating services and downloading/using apps to support daily life and save money.*Hours will be mostly on Wednesday with the group drop-in sessions running on a Wednesday afternoon. With flexibility for 2-3hrs per week to be worked on a different day.Day to day you will be:

• Designing, planning and delivering digital group drop-in sessions to meet the objectives of the project
• Carrying out meaningful consultation with group participants to ensure the content is engaging and appropriate for their needs, whilst balancing the funders requirements
• Providing targeted 1:1 support to learners
• Creating promotional material and networking locally to attract people to the service
• Carrying out all project administration including maintaining accurate records on a database
• Evaluating the progress of the project to demonstrate impact and inform funder reporting
• Staying abreast of local job vacancies, work placements, further education and volunteering opportunities to signpost people to
• Recruiting and supporting volunteers in the project
• Ensuring the safety of participants and volunteers through assessing risks and applying safeguarding practices
• Working as part of the wider Community Learning and Development team to share knowledge and best practice

The successful person for this role will:

• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to naturally form and manage appropriate relationships with a range of people of all ages and walks of life
• Enjoy helping people to learn and grow in confidence, with a teaching style that is patient, positive, supportive and inclusive
• Have confidence using digital devices, applications and online tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Be motivated, highly organised and able to prioritise their own workload with minimal supervision
• Have an understanding of health & safety practices including safeguarding and assessing risks
