Job Description
Job Title - Digital Forensics - Team Leader(s) - Mobile or PC
Location - Birmingham City Centre

All applicants must hold current SC (Security Clearance) to be considered.

Job Purpose

To undertake operational tasks such as analyzing a wide range of digital devices supplied for forensic examination, producing reports and statements for court, and managing a team of digital investigators to meet DFIR and operational targets.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide written estimates for forensic examination of digital equipment for prosecution and defence.
  2. Develop examination strategies and prepare work program summaries within agreed costs.
  3. Organize daily casework activities to ensure efficiency, quality, and adherence to standards.
  4. Deliver complex investigations on time, within budget, and according to best practices.
  5. Assist in seizure of equipment and on-site acquisitions at customer premises.
  6. Oversee R&D work by team members.
  7. Produce reports and provide expert evidence in court.
  8. Review colleagues’ reports to maintain quality standards.
  9. Handle exhibits following evidential rules and safeguards.
  10. Mentor junior staff.
  11. Brief clients and stakeholders effectively.
  12. Stay updated with technological advancements.
  13. Identify process improvements for quality and effectiveness.
  14. Manage direct reports and assist in hiring.
  15. Provide weekly operational reports.
  16. Support team members to uphold DFIR standards and offer technical assistance.
  17. Conduct One-2-One meetings and training to enhance skills.
  18. Assist in nonconformance investigations and validation testing.
  19. Review and approve QMS documentation.
  20. Ensure team competency and induction processes are completed timely.
  21. Ensure adherence to procedures regarding unvalidated methods.
  22. Maintain security clearance as per policy.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
  • Senior Investigator in Computer/Mobile Forensics.
  • Degree or equivalent in computer science or related field.
  • Proven forensic investigation experience, including court testimony.
  • Knowledge of various OS, networks, and forensic tools.
  • Experience working ethically in forensic environments.
  • Understanding of UK legislation and court procedures.
  • Excellent reporting and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of standards like ISO 17025 and ILAC G19.
