Job summary

BHP, Chartered Accountants in Sheffield is seeking an Accounts Semi Senior to support a varied client portfolio with bookkeeping, management accounts, VAT compliance and cloud accounting. You will work with managers to develop technical skills and take greater client responsibility.

This role offers exposure to diverse businesses while expanding accounting knowledge and digital skills, with opportunities to improve client processes through automation.

Qualifications

• ACCA/ACA in progress or equivalent.accounting

Responsibilities

• Prepare bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
• Produce management accounts and support reporting requirements
• Prepare and review VAT returns
• Complete bank, supplier and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes
• Review transactional data and identify anomalies
• Assist clients with cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage
• Process journals, accruals and prepayments
• Assist with preparation of statutory accounts
• Support trainees and junior team members where required
• Build strong client relationships and act as trusted contact
• Identify opportunities to improve client processes through digital solutions and automation

Key Responsibilities

As an Accounts Semi Senior, you'll support a portfolio of clients with bookkeeping, management accounts, VAT compliance and cloud accounting solutions. You'll work closely with managers and senior team members while developing your technical expertise and taking increasing responsibility for client relationships.

• Preparing bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
• Producing management accounts and supporting reporting requirements
• Preparing and reviewing VAT returns
• Completing bank, supplier and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with month-end and year-end accounting processes
• Reviewing transactional data and identifying anomalies
• Supporting clients with cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We're looking for someone who:

• Is currently studying for their ACCA or ACA
• Has experience in an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, Finance Assistant or similar accounting role
• Has experience preparing management accounts and VAT returns
• Is comfortable using cloud accounting software and Excel
• Has excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Can manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
• Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Is proactive, ambitious and keen to continue developing professionally
• Demonstrates a positive and collaborative approach to work
