Our services are based on in-depth understanding of individual consumer behaviour and marketing technology which influence the way consumers buy products and services through a combination of data, technology and consultancy.

Overview

At CACI, we believe that designing impactful services starts with understanding and listening to people. We’re looking for a versatile User Researcher who’s passionate about uncovering what users really need — and translating those insights into real change.

This role is for someone who thrives on curiosity and rigour: a researcher confident in planning and running studies, but also ready to take on strategic conversations with clients and shape the direction of projects. Whether you’re supporting discovery work or validating new concepts, you’ll help ensure the services and products we design are grounded in evidence and insight– while also being adaptable enough to contribute to generalist UX and design tasks when needed.

Who are we and how do you fit in?

CACI is a data and technology consultancy with a human edge. With over 1,200 people in the UK and part of a 22,000-strong global group, we help national and international clients use data and insight to transform how they work.

Our Experience Design team sits within the wider Experience & Transformation practice. We bring together researchers, strategists, designers, and technologists to solve some of the most interesting problems out there – from evolving digital journeys in financial services to improving essential public services used by millions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Plan, design and conduct user research using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g. usability testing, depth interviews, diary studies, surveys)
  • Choose the right research approach based on project goals, constraints and client context
  • Analyse and synthesise findings into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Help shape project direction, define user needs, and support delivery of impactful experiences
  • Work with stakeholders to align research with organisational and user goals
  • Facilitate workshops and playback sessions to share insights and generate ideas
  • Collaborate closely with UX and service designers, developers and product owners
  • Contribute to research standards and ways of working across the team
  • Own and lead research workstreams on small-to-medium engagements; support seniors on more complex or strategic programmes

We think you’ll thrive here if you…

  • Have solid experience in a user research role within digital product or service development
  • Are confident working independently on research plans and activities
  • Are comfortable wearing multiple hats, including helping with wireframes, prototypes, or supporting design tasks depending on project needs
  • Can clearly explain research findings to non-researchers – including senior stakeholders– Ability to bring stories to life is key
  • Have experience across the full research lifecycle: planning, recruitment, fieldwork, analysis and reporting
  • Are comfortable working in agile, iterative environments and adjusting to shifting priorities
  • Understand how to balance user needs with business and technical constraints
  • Are confident using research tools like Dovetail, Miro, Lookback, Optimal Workshop and any relevant analytics platforms
  • Are skilled in writing impactful, clear research reports and facilitating engaging insight sessions

It’s a bonus if you also…

  • Have worked across both public and private sector settings
  • Have experience with inclusive and accessible research, for example conducting research with users with diverse needs, including disabilities, low digital confidence, or limited access to technology
  • Bring additional skills in service design, content design, data analysis or behavioural science
  • Are familiar with GDS standards or government service design principles
  • Have supported bids, proposals or new business conversations
  • Enjoy sharing your knowledge through mentoring, writing or speaking opportunities

We are committed to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.

Successful candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
