Job summary

BYLOR is delivering the HPC civil works and seeks a Digital Engineer to manage construction data for secondary steelworks, supporting data-driven decisions through Qlik dashboards and BIM tools at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.

The role requires a mix of digital engineering, construction delivery, and data analytics, with 2+ years’ experience and HND in Engineering or above. Strong presentation, teamwork, and willingness to learn new software are essential.

Job description

Bouygues Travaux Publics (TP) and Laing O’Rourke, two of Europe’s most dynamic engineering and construction specialists, are working together in a joint venture named BYLOR to deliver the main civil engineering works at Hinkley Point C (HPC) worth over £2.8 billion.

Purpose of the role:

The Digital Engineer will Manage and coordinate construction data for secondary steelworks installation on the HPC Nuclear Island, ensuring accurate, timely information is available to support delivery, quality, and decision making through tools such as Qlick dashboards. They will help align information with site execution and support clear visibility of progress constrains.

Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:

The resource will maintain basic configuration and change control, support progress reporting and ensure key installation and quality data is captured to support handover. Overall the role enables better Coordination, improved data driven decision making, and more efficient delivery though reliable digital information.

The role requires a combination of digital engineering , construction delivery, and data analytic.

The resource will have strong experience in construction data management and reporting tool such as Qlik, alongside the ability to structure and interpret complex construction and engineering data to support performance reporting, progressing tracking and decision making.

The resource will need strong understanding of construction sequences and installation activities. It is essential a good combination of advanced data reporting and practical delivery awareness.

Data extraction and dashboard maintenance
  • Keep relevant dashboards are correct up to date to ensure management and leadership can make data driven decisions.
Technology implementation and process improvement
  • Keep up to date with industry developments, standards, processes, and technology.
  • Propose and develop process improvements based on digital technology.
  • Test and trail new technology working together with engineering teams.
Supporting engineering teams
  • Work closely with the site engineering teams to support them to work digitally.
  • Train others on the usage of digitals tools, on desktop and mobile devices.
  • Respond to one-off requests to deliver specific data, information, and outputs.
  • Supporting the Digital Engineering lead with the thorough project protocols set-up and implementation based on project standards
  • Experience of civil engineering on large complex projects
  • 2+ years’ experience
  • HND in Engineering or above - preferred
  • Ability to present to team and co-workers

All positions with Bylor are employed directly with either Laing O’Rourke or Bouygues Travaux Public and include competitive salaries, private medical insurance, company pension schemes and annual holiday allowance. Some grades will also include a company car allowance.

Unless stated otherwise all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
