Digital Communications Officer £175–£200 per day Hybrid Working (Glasgow) Contract

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Digital Communications Officer to join a high-profile organisation on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a digital communications professional with strong content editing, publishing and stakeholder management skills to play a key role in improving online communications and user experience.

As Digital Communications Officer, you will:
  • Write, edit and publish high-quality content for online audiences, ensuring information is clear, concise, accessible and user-focused.
  • Support the delivery of digital content across a range of environmental, social and public-facing programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with communications colleagues and subject matter experts to deliver content accurately and to tight deadlines.
  • Provide specialist digital communications and content publishing advice to colleagues across the organisation.
  • Use content design principles to improve the effectiveness and accessibility of online content.
  • Support the day-to-day administration and publishing of digital communications.
  • Use data, research, analytics and user feedback to inform content decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Help ensure digital content consistently meets publishing, accessibility and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage a varied range of digital content and publication requests.
  • Review, write, edit and publish content using content management systems.
  • Ensure online content meets the needs of users while supporting wider organisational objectives.
  • Review content against accessibility, publishing and digital content standards.
  • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on digital publishing and content best practice.
  • Work with stakeholders at different levels to understand requirements, manage expectations and deliver effective digital communications.
  • Use web traffic and behavioural analytics to develop insight into user needs and improve online content.
  • Work collaboratively with communications, policy and stakeholder teams to identify problems and deliver practical improvements.
  • Coordinate the timely publication of policy documents and wider communications content.
  • Support the development of content using user-centred content design principles.
  • Contribute to wider digital communications and campaign activity where required.
You will ideally have:
  • Proven experience coordinating varied and sometimes complex content requirements for a range of internal stakeholders.
  • Strong experience writing and editing content for online audiences.
  • Experience using a content management system to publish and manage website content.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to make complex information simple and accessible.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues at different levels.
  • Knowledge of website accessibility standards, HTML and user-centred design principles.
  • Experience using web traffic and behavioural analytics to develop meaningful insight.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and organised when working to tight deadlines.
  • A genuine interest in improving user experience and using evidence and data to inform digital content decisions.
