Job summary

Cambridge University Press & Assessment is recruiting a Digital Assessment Creation Subject Matter Expert (SME) to shape high‑quality, accessible digital assessments and ensure candidate experience remains central. The role involves evaluating existing paper‑based assessments for migration to digital and developing standards and prototypes in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

The post offers a hybrid working arrangement (40-60% time in-office in Cambridge) and a fixed term/secondment

Qualifications

• Experience of assessment design and development in digital contexts.
• Experience in accessibility or inclusive-design for digital assessments.
• Ability to interpret complex requirements and translate into actionable recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain digital assessment standards, guidance and best practice.
• Work with assessment, product, user experience and technology specialists to develop and evaluate concepts for new digital assessments.
• Evaluate digital assessment platforms, interactions and workflows, recommending improvements or additional capabilities where needed.
• Create mock-ups and prototypes to test assumptions and support stakeholder discussion.
• Use research and external perspectives to identify opportunities and inform future digital assessment design.
• Provide trusted specialist advice, constructively challenge proposals and help colleagues reach evidence-based decisions.
• Share knowledge and guidance to build digital assessment capability across the organisation.
