Job summary

West Midlands Police is seeking a Digital Architect to ensure the right digital capabilities are built into systems, applications and solutions to meet the Force’s Digital strategy. The role focuses on Functionality, Usability and social media, and includes maintaining the Application Architecture Blueprint for the force.

You will report to the Senior Architecture Manager and work within a large transformation programme to deliver secure, usable technology that supports policing objectives, with

Qualifications

• Experience designing customer solutions within an IT/Digital environment.
• Ability to align initiatives with architectural standards.
• Knowledge of governance and standards processes.
• Experience engaging with stakeholders to present outputs.

Responsibilities

• Propose and articulate the impact of new Force initiatives on existing architecture.
• Guide projects using architecture standards to improve reuse and component integration.
• Define and govern technology standards through bodies like the Technical Design Authority (TDA).
• Provide expert input on impact assessments, tender responses, third‑party solutions, and implementation standards.
• Engage stakeholders to present outputs clearly and promote IT and digital solutions.
