Job Description:
Overall job purpose

The role is for a digital accounting assistant manager or manager for the North West region. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering client work, proactively identifying client opportunities, and promoting the benefits of cloud solutions to the wider team. They will be supported by the national digital accounting lead.

This will primarily be a regional role, and some travel will be required.

Responsibilities
  • Liaising with partners and portfolio managers to identify client opportunities and internal efficiencies for cloud implementation and optimisation.
  • Promoting completion of digital health checks across the ABA North West portfolio, tracking these, and following up on opportunities.
  • Carrying out client work including cloud implementation, finance function optimisation, and Xero training engagements.
  • Overseeing junior staff on projects, providing briefing, supervision, training, and reviewing work for adequacy and competence.
  • Raising awareness of digital solutions, especially cloud accounting, Xero, and related apps, among managers and partners, including challenging current practices.
  • Keeping up to date with developments in digital accounting, maintaining Xero certification, and undertaking relevant training.

  • Qualified Accountant.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technology.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Strong communicator, both with clients and RSM staff at all levels.
  • Proactive — able to drive the digital journey.
  • Resilient — comfortable with trying new approaches and accepting initial failures.
  • Good judgment — able to evaluate solutions and articulate reasons for choices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting issues.
