Job summary

HSB Technical Ltd is seeking a Generator Field Service Engineer to install, commission, and maintain diesel generators at customer sites within the Midlands and nearby areas.

The role is field-based, requiring a strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability, a full UK driving license, and willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays. You will work with project teams to deliver reliable standby and temporary power solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience in field service on diesel generators.
• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities.
• NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent in power engineering.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and manuals.
• Full UK driving licence and DBS check eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain and repair generator sets.
• Diagnose faults and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues.
• Carry out planned maintenance and testing.
• Provide on-site technical support and respond to breakdowns.
• Complete service reports and documentation.
• Communicate updates and technical advice to customers.
• Work with project managers and rental teams.
• Ensure health and safety compliance.
• Travel to sites, with occasional overnight stays.
