The Role

As a Diesel Gas Path Engineer, you will support the development of the engine / aftertreatment physical base system engineering. You will ensure adherence to specified engineering methods, computer tools, and aids. You will also support vehicle, domain, and other indirect team members' understanding of the integrated propulsion functions.

Your responsibilities:

  1. Work on robust requirements and ensure targets are delivered on-cycle to programmes.
  2. Develop and update system artifacts (MBSE models, use case analysis, LAD, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, DVP, requirements, standards).
  3. Deliver new functions through SOC and FSOI processes.
  4. Identify, report, and resolve system compatibility issues.
  5. Chair technical reviews/forums and resolve complex cross-functional issues.
  6. Develop methods and conduct technical studies into future technologies.
  7. Analyze standard cycles like emission tests and address related issues.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience in electrified propulsion systems like MHEV, PHEV.
  • Background in Emissions/Gas Path/Aftertreatment.
  • Experience with emissions testing and calibration.
  • Knowledge of integrating core systems - Aftertreatment and Gas Path.
  • Hands-on experience calibrating diesel engines for emissions.
  • Understanding of emission regulations and calibration techniques.
  • Knowledge of ICE engine chemistry.
  • Calibration, sensor control, and CAE experience.
  • Experience in defining test cases and DoE for various testing environments.
  • Full UK or equivalent driving license.
  • Problem-solving skills using 8D and 6 sigma methods.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or automotive engineering.
  • Previous experience in emission calibration and powertrain systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of MHEV systems and testing cycles.
  • CAE experience with Simulink modeling.
  • Specialization in Emissions, After-treatment, Gas-path, etc.
