Job description

Department: Imaging

Band 7 £46,148 - £52,809 per annum (pro rata if Part-time)

Full-time or Part-time, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

Milton Keynes University Hospital is a district general hospital operating across 3 sites in Milton Keynes. The Imaging department provides essential services including CT, MRI, ultrasound, DEXA, mammography, general x-ray, and interventional radiology.

Due to service expansion, we invite applications from enthusiastic individuals primarily based at Lloyds Court CDC in CMK, with flexibility to work across all MKUH sites as required. The post holder will work autonomously, performing high-quality imaging and issuing reports on all DEXA examinations.

The ideal candidates should demonstrate a commitment to professional development and show a keen interest in the future of diagnostic imaging services. They will support the service and staff in maintaining and developing high standards of imaging. In return, the successful applicant will receive strong support for their career development.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the DEXA services.
  2. Work efficiently and independently across MKUH, supporting qualified and trainee staff to deliver high-quality, safe, and compassionate DEXA services.
  3. Coordinate training, learning, and development for AHPs and other healthcare professionals in DEXA, ensuring service requirements are met through education.
  4. Clinically scan a wide range of patients at a high diagnostic standard, creating accurate reports and discussing results with patients and referrers as appropriate.
  5. Support service development and expansion, reporting DEXA KPIs that reflect service user and organizational needs.
  6. Adopt flexible working patterns to support services, including extended hours (08:00-20:00) across 7 days.
  7. Ensure high standards of clinical practice, quality assurance, and promote a safe, compassionate healthcare environment.
  8. Represent Imaging services at forums and promotional events.
  9. Manage and maintain budgets for allocated services, ensuring efficient resource use and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
