Job summary

BBC Group and Public Services in London, Salford, Glasgow or Newcastle is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join the MediaTech DevOps team. You'll help build, operate and improve software, platforms and automation that support secure software delivery across Media Technology, spanning software engineering, cloud infrastructure, security tooling, CI/CD, vulnerability management and automation.

You will work with experienced engineers, independently delivering well-scoped changes while collaborating

Qualifications

• Experience building, maintaining and operating software services, integrations, automation, or engineering tooling using at least one modern programming language.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS), including IaC, automated software delivery, and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of secure engineering principles, including APIs, authentication, access control, secrets management, monitoring and software security best practices.
• Ability to investigate technical issues, understand unfamiliar systems, and deliver practical engineering solutions with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• Experience using source control and automated testing and the ability to communicate technical challenges and implementation decisions within an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Build integrations that connect security, engineering and data to make findings easier to understand and act on.
• Work with AWS infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code to deliver and operate secure cloud-based services and CI/CD integrations.
• Apply secure engineering practices around IAM, secrets, logging, monitoring and least-privilege access.
• Investigate issues across services and infrastructure and write automated tests, docs and tooling.
• Deliver well-defined engineering changes independently and contribute to design, estimation and implementation.
• Collaborate with teams to implement practical security/operational solutions and contribute reusable code and automation.
• Use AI-assisted development tools where useful for coding, testing, investigation, automation or security analysis.
