Job summary

IBM Consulting UK FutureNow in London is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, build and support cloud platforms, automate delivery and embed security into the software lifecycle. You’ll work across large transformation programs, collaborating with developers, architects and security experts to solve complex problems.

You’ll leverage Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD tooling and cloud platforms in regulated environments, while continuously learning and growing in a flexible, inclusive team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in DevOps/Platform/Cloud engineering or similar role.
  • Experience building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud.
  • Experience scripting with Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar.
  • Knowledge of monitoring/logging/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog).
  • Understanding of security across the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience with Git-based source control and collaborative practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in consulting/public sector/regulatory environments would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and support modern cloud and platform solutions.

  • Contribute to technical best practice, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
  • Support the delivery of solutions within highly regulated and security-conscious environments.

Job description

As a DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Design, build and support modern cloud and platform solutions.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • Build, improve and support CI/CD pipelines to enable secure and reliable software delivery.
  • Implement and maintain containerised solutions using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience
  • Experience working in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering or similar role.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as: GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar technologies. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code approaches, including Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
  • Experience working with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms including AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud.
  • Experience scripting and automating tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, logging and observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk or Datadog.
  • Understanding of security principles and how they apply throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience working with Git-based source control and collaborative development practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working within consulting, public sector or regulated environments would be advantageous.

Security Requirements This role is subject to successful completion of pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Depending on the client and assignment, additional National Security Vetting (NSV) may be required, including eligibility for Enhanced Security Check (eSC) or Enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV).

Preferred technical and professional experience One or more of the following certifications would be beneficial:

  • Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
