Job summary

NatWest Group is seeking a DevOps Engineer in Edinburgh to help build our DevOps practice and accelerate adoption of center of excellence practices. You will mentor feature and platform teams and drive continuous improvement for end-to-end value delivery.

You’ll work across the bank to uplift DevOps capability, measure outcomes, and advocate data-driven decisions, while guiding teams on tooling and cloud migrations to improve reliability and speed.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Software Development, CI/CD pipelines and automation scripting.
• Experience migrating services from private cloud to public cloud.
• Proficiency with Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of AWS hosting and services.
• Solid understanding of Java Spring Boot.
• Experience with Observability tooling (Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, Prometheus).

Responsibilities

• Mentor and coach feature and platform teams to higher DevOps capability and drive continuous improvements.
• Assess current DevOps capability levels and identify gaps; support with learning workshops and training.
• Demonstrate how to measure and visualise value flow through DevOps tools and processes.
• Advise teams on the most suitable DevOps uplifts based on needs and ROI; ensure data-driven decisions and cost management.
