Job ID: 10598581 | Amazon UK Services Ltd.
Do you get excited about using the latest tools and technologies to deliver high-quality software? Are you eager to learn and adapt as the DevOps landscape evolves? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join Amazon as a DevOps Apprentice, where you'll help shape how we build and deliver software.
As a DevOps Apprentice, you'll bridge the gap between software development and IT operations - automating processes and helping ensure the seamless delivery of software to users around the world. The work you do will help shape experiences for millions of customers.
Throughout your apprenticeship you'll grow the technical skills and problem-solving mindset to build and maintain reliable systems, learning to automate, test, and improve the way software is delivered. You'll develop these skills working alongside experienced engineers across development and operations. We move fast, fail fast, and fix faster, so you'll be encouraged to bring your ideas, test them, and learn as you go.
A day in the life can involve:
We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who are eager to learn new technologies and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. You'll bring an analytical mindset to solve complex problems, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions, along with the strategic thinking to anticipate challenges before they arise. Strong collaboration and communication skills matter too, as you'll be working closely with developers, IT operations, and stakeholders to convey complex information clearly.
Here at Amazon, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Within this apprenticeship you'll put newfound knowledge into practice every day, supported by first-class coaching, tailored development, and rewarding work that will empower you to reach new heights and build the future you envision.
You’ll gain a vast range of experiences and skills while working towards the Level 4 DevOps Engineer Apprenticeship standard. As a working student, your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off-the-job time, developing the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You'll be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies.
You’ll build your skills over a 24-month period, starting in September. Your apprenticeship will combine classroom/virtual-based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, and mentoring from our experienced team members.
We value different perspectives and experiences, and we're dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. Our employee-led affinity groups – including communities for women in tech, LGBTQ+ employees, and underrepresented minorities – provide community, mentorship, and a platform for your voice to be heard. We're committed to building a workforce that reflects the customers and communities we serve.
We're also continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth's Best Employer, so you'll have the resources and support to develop into a well-rounded professional.
Your career isn't a straight path - it's a journey you build as you go. A universe of opportunity awaits, and your next adventure starts here.
Please note: as part of your off-the-job learning on this 24-month apprenticeship, you may be required to travel to a training centre, which may differ from your primary work base. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel as part of the programme.
