Job summary

Arm is seeking a CPU Performance Engineer focused on device-level performance analysis. You will work with real devices and silicon platforms to understand real‑world workloads and translate findings into architecture guidance.

Responsibilities include analysing performance with PMU counters, reproducing silicon behaviors in emulation/FPGA, and collaborating with architecture teams to drive data‑backed recommendations. The role supports hybrid working in the UK.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of CPU microarchitecture fundamentals (pipelines, caches, speculation).
• Experience in performance analysis (profiling, benchmarking, debugging).
• Familiarity with PMU‑based profiling tools or equivalent counters.
• Basic programming or scripting skills (Python, C/C++, or similar).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyse performance on real devices and workloads to identify bottlenecks.
• Support investigations of system‑level performance issues tied to CPU factors.
• Reproduce silicon‑observed behaviours in controlled environments (emulation/FPGA).
• Contribute data to discussions with CPU architecture teams.
• Develop and improve performance analysis workflows and tooling.
