Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group in Glasgow is seeking a senior property and casualty underwriter with a strong track record in Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate accounts. You will blend technical underwriting with strategic broker partnerships to drive growth and profitability.

The role is office-based in Glasgow with hybrid working, requiring leadership in complex cases and strong negotiation with trading underwriters.

Qualifications

• Senior underwriter with P&C expertise in the Scottish market.
• Track record of winning and retaining large Mid-Market / Mid-Corporate business.
• Strong pipeline management, negotiation and influencing skills.
• DIP qualification (or currently working towards).

Responsibilities

• Present propositions for larger Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate risks.

Calling all property and casualty development, new business or trading underwriters.

This is a great next step for an experienced senior underwriter ready to move into a role that blends technical underwriting with strategic influence, shaping how the business partners with broker portfolios across Scotland.

What you'll be doing:

Presenting propositions for larger Mid-Market and Mid-Corporate risks, negotiating coverage, wording and pricing with trading underwriters. Building a strong pipeline of qualified growth opportunities through client and broker relationships. Leading the large case management process for new business. Developing and owning broker relationships across the region, with full accountability for generation, placement and retention of profitable business. Underwriting new and existing business in line with underwriting controls, acting as a referral point in branch. Maintaining a quality distribution strategy with key brokers to hit financial KPIs.

What they're looking for:

Strong P&C technical underwriting knowledge of the Scottish market. A track record of winning and retaining large, complex business through senior broker/customer relationships. Strong pipeline management, negotiation and influencing skills. DIP qualified (or working towards) with experience underwriting Mid-Market/Mid-Corporate business.
