Job summary

Amwins Global Risks is seeking an experienced underwriter to identify and underwrite profitable risks through broker relationships, driving growth in GWP and commissions. You will manage a panel of brokers, respond to enquiries, and ensure compliance.

This role supports a remote, relationship-driven strategy with opportunities for professional development. Responsibilities include making sound underwriting decisions, growing profitability, and maintaining accurate records while collaborating

Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of commercial SME insurance and underwriting.
• Class-specific underwriting experience.
• Proven sales/development experience with brokers.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of FCA regulations for commercial customers.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite prompt, sound decisions within authority.
• Contribute to profitable growth of the division’s portfolio.
• Support the generation of planned income (GWP and Commission earnings).
• Ensure new and renewal business and general enquiries are dealt with promptly.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with broker panel for growth opportunities.
• Undertake regular reviews of management information for broker panel sharing and keep accurate records.

Job Purpose

Identify and underwrite profitable risks through the identification, development and maintenance of key relationships with brokers to support the development of your underwriting class products. Relationship Management of panel of brokers looking at ways to grow enquiry levels, improve retentions resulting in profitable growth of GWP from the panel.

Knowledge/skills/qualifications

• Detailed insurance knowledge and experience working in the Commercial SME insurance market
• Class specific underwriting experience
• Proven experience in Sales/Development to ensure good engagement with Broker
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Clear drive and enthusiasm to work to agreed targets
• Fast paced decision making and reaction to opportunities to develop brokers account
• Good knowledge and understanding of FCA regulation and guidelines relating to commercial customers.
• Proficient use of Company IT systems
