Job description

London South Bank University is seeking to appoint a Development Project Manager to play a key role in the realisation of a transformational estate project for the organisation. This is a rare opportunity to play a leading role in shaping and progressing one of the most ambitious campus developments within the UK higher education sector.

Situated at the heart of Elephant & Castle, LSBU's 12-acre Southwark Campus occupies a strategically important Zone 1 London location within one of the capital's most dynamic regeneration and development markets. The University is progressing a bold 10+ year estate vision that seeks to create a modern, connected and sustainable campus, transforming the student experience whilst supporting future academic growth and institutional ambition.

Working closely with the Director of Estates and Academic Environment and Strategic Estates Master Planner, the Development Project Manager will play a central role in developing and delivering the Southwark Campus Masterplan. Working alongside senior University stakeholders, external consultants and strategic advisers, you will help translate long-term estate ambitions into a deliverable programme of estate transformation, regeneration and development. The role will focus on development feasibility, stakeholder engagement, business case preparation, project management process implementation, consultant management and the progression of future capital investment opportunities.

The Southwark Campus comprises approximately 132,000 sq m of academic, research and support accommodation within one of London's most significant regeneration locations. The emerging Masterplan Framework seeks to improve space utilisation, modernise facilities, strengthen academic identity, enhance sustainability and create a vibrant civic campus that better connects education, research, innovation, enterprise and community engagement.

A particularly distinctive aspect of the programme is its commercially-led approach to transformation. LSBU is actively exploring the redevelopment potential of strategic sites including Technopark, Perry and St George's Quarter, creating opportunities to unlock development value that can support future academic investment. This presents a unique opportunity to gain exposure to campus masterplanning, urban regeneration and mixed-use development within a client-side environment.

We are seeking an ambitious and commercially aware development, regeneration, estates or project professional, with experience of contributing to the developmental stages of major capital projects or mixed-use development schemes, alongside excellent communication, stakeholder management and project management skills.

This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a once-in-a-generation estate transformation programme that will shape the future of London South Bank University for decades to come. LSBU offers the opportunity to work within a values-driven organisation with a strong commitment to education, social mobility, innovation and community impact, alongside an excellent benefits package and opportunities for continued professional development.

Closing date for applications is 8th November 2026.

Interviews will be held w/c 23rd November 2026.

London South Bank University is committed to equality of opportunity, eliminating discrimination and creating an inclusive working environment. Applications are welcomed from all suitably qualified candidates.
