Notting Hill Genesis is recruiting a senior development finance lead to manage the financial governance of our housing development portfolio in London. You will oversee project accounting, VAT, intercompany transactions, and collaborate with project managers to keep budgets accurate and forecasts reliable.

The role requires CCAB qualification, strong leadership, and advanced Excel, D365 F&O, and Power BI skills.

• Lead the financial management and accounting of the Group’s development projects with accurate reporting.

• Maintain project ledger integrity across projects, tenure and entities; oversee VAT accounting and intercompany transactions.
• Provide insights into costs, forecasts, cash flows, risks and performance; ensure timely year-end processes.

What You’ll Do

How You’ll Do It

• Lead the financial management and accounting of the Group’s development projects, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
• Manage and develop the project finance team, maintaining effective controls over invoice processing and project transactions.
• Maintain the integrity of the project ledger, ensuring costs are correctly recorded, supported and allocated across projects, tenure and legal entities.
• Oversee Value Added Tax (VAT) accounting, ensuring VAT is correctly analysed, recorded, and recoverable amounts are identified and recovered promptly.
• Partner with Project Managers to ensure budgets, forecasts and key financial arrangements are accurately maintained and reported.
• Oversee intercompany development transactions, ensuring costs incurred by Design & Build entities are billed and reconciled on a timely basis.
• Work with Development Finance and Joint Ventures and Development Delivery teams to ensure appropriate intercompany development and lease agreements are in place.
• Monitor project financial performance, providing insight and challenge on costs, forecasts, cash flows, risks, and emerging issues.
• Maintain strong financial controls, reconciliations, supporting evidence and audit trails, ensuring period and year-end requirements are delivered accurately and on time.
• Act as a key point of contact for development accounting matters, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external auditors and other advisers and ensuring queries and information requests are resolved promptly.
• Drive continuous improvement in development finance processes, controls, systems and reporting, making effective use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations (D365 F&O) and data analysis.

Essential:

• Hold a CCAB recognised accounting qualification
• Strong technical project/development accounting knowledge, demonstrable experience of managing and developing a finance team, and a strong controls mindset with the ability to identify weaknesses, resolve complex accounting issues and improve processes.
• Uphold ethical principles including integrity, objectivity, professional competence, confidentiality, and professional behaviour; be a role model of the organisation's values.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for diverse audience engagement; work collaboratively
• Strategic thinking ability; capable of analysing complex data to develop solutions and make well-reasoned decisions
• Experience influencing operational activities at both tactical and strategic levels
• Proficiency in Excel; knowledge of D365 F&O and Power BI preferred
• Evidence of strong partnerships and relationship building with internal/external stakeholders
• Ability to manage, develop, appraise and performance manage staff to ensure they are fully motivated to achieve best performance.
• A thorough understanding of the development finance functions related to new build and regeneration programs is essential for this role, along with the ability to drive financial performance and efficiency throughout the organisation.
