Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Development Manager to join an established privately owned property business with an active pipeline of development projects across London and the wider UK.

Working across a range of hospitality and living-led projects, this is an opportunity to gain broad client-side development experience, supporting projects from early feasibility and planning through design, construction and completion.

The Organisation

Our client is an established property developer and investor with a strong track record of delivering complex development projects.

The business is continuing to grow its development pipeline and is looking to strengthen its London team with a Development Manager who can take increasing responsibility for projects as they progress through the development lifecycle.

The Role and Responsibilities

Reporting into senior members of the development team, you will support and manage projects from feasibility through to completion, working closely with internal teams and external consultants.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing projects through feasibility, design, planning, procurement, construction and completion.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary consultant and professional teams.
  • Supporting planning applications and statutory approvals.
  • Managing design development and ensuring projects meet relevant technical and operational requirements.
  • Monitoring project budgets, programmes, risks and change control.
  • Supporting procurement and contractor appointment processes.
  • Monitoring construction progress, quality and programme through to Practical Completion.
  • Working with operators and other project stakeholders throughout design and delivery.
  • Supporting project handover, mobilisation and defects management.
  • Building strong relationships with consultants, contractors and wider stakeholders.
The Skills and Requirements

We are looking for someone with approximately 3-6 years' experience across development, project management or consultancy who has gained exposure to the delivery of hospitality-led development.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience working on hotel or hospitality projects through design and construction.
  • A good understanding of planning, design, procurement and construction processes.
  • Experience coordinating consultants, professional teams and contractors.
  • Exposure to project budgets, programmes, risk and change management.
  • Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.
  • A relevant property, construction, engineering or architecture-related degree.

This could particularly suit an existing Development Manager looking to broaden their project exposure, or a Project Manager/consultant with relevant development and hotel experience looking to move client-side.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established developer, work alongside an experienced senior team and gain genuine end-to-end responsibility for complex development projects.
