Job summary

Clyde & Co is seeking an experienced Development Manager to lead our Custom Solutions development function. You will manage a multi-disciplinary team delivering business-critical applications and services across Clyde & Co.

You will provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and performance reviews, while overseeing project delivery, risk management and quality standards. This hybrid role offers partnership with stakeholders and a focus on automation and AI-enabled improvements.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience with Agile delivery environments.
  • Experience with Visualfiles/Everyfile and .NET/C# is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Custom Solutions development function, managing a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Oversee delivery of development projects, system enhancements and production support.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on solution design and best practices.
  • Drive automation, workflow optimisation and AI-enabled solutions where appropriate.
  • Build strong relationships with IT and business stakeholders and third-party partners.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Development Manager to lead our Custom Solutions development function, managing a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering business-critical applications and services across Clyde & Co.

What You’ll Be Doing
Lead and Develop the Team
  • Manage a team of approximately 7 developers and technical specialists across Visualfiles/Everyfile and .NET
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and support
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews and development conversations
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable and high-performing team culture
  • Support career development and succession planning within the team
Drive Delivery
  • Oversee the delivery of development projects, system enhancements and production support activities
  • Prioritise workload across multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Balance business-as-usual support with strategic project delivery
  • Manage risks, issues and delivery dependencies
  • Ensure solutions are delivered to agreed quality, performance and security standards
Provide Technical Leadership
  • Act as the technical lead for Visualfiles/Everyfile solutions within the team
  • Provide guidance on solution design and development best practice
  • Support complex problem solving and technical decision making
  • Drive continuous improvement across tooling, processes and solution architecture
Support Change and Innovation
  • Lead release and deployment activities across the team
  • Ensure appropriate testing, governance and change controls are in place
  • Support the firm's growing focus on automation, workflow optimisation and AI-enabled solutions
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and enhance internal technology platforms
Build Strong Relationships
  • Partner with stakeholders across IT and the wider business to understand requirements and priorities
  • Communicate delivery progress, timelines and risks effectively
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and development partners
What We’re Looking For
Essential
  • Experience leading software development teams
  • Experience managing multiple competing priorities and workstreams
  • Proven ability to balance project delivery with operational support activities
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
Desirable
  • Strong experience working with Visualfiles/Everyfile
  • Exposure to or understanding of .NET / C# development
  • Experience within a legal, professional services or regulated environment
  • Experience working with case or matter management systems
  • Experience driving process improvements, automation or team efficiency initiatives
