Job summary

SYSTRA UK & Ireland is seeking an Associate (Development Management) to lead development management projects and act as Project Director across the business. You will manage budgets, guide planning applications, local plans and EIAs, and build a high-performing team.

We value strong leadership, bid capability and client-facing communication. The role requires MSc Transport Planning & Engineering and track record with both private and public sector clients in development management and planning.

Qualifications

• MSc Transport Planning & Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Chartered Engineer status is desirable and recognised by a professional body.
• Proven track record with private and public sector clients on Development Control, Development Management and Development Planning projects.
• Ability to lead and mentor staff and develop the team’s skills.
• Ability to define scopes and manage internal technical supply chain, budgets, programme and deliverables.
• Ability to contribute to bids and tenders.
• Strong communication skills and team-working ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of development management local plan and masterplanning projects.
• Act as Project Director for DevMan projects across the business.
• Project manage schemes with control over budgets.
• Manage staff in review of Planning Applications, Local Plans, EIAs and design projects.
• Ensure work is technically accurate and compliant with standards.
• Produce scheme deliverables and liaise with Directors to secure opportunities.
• Plan and manage work with resource manager; prepare client fee proposals.
• Line manage up to 6 direct reports and develop the team.
• Communicate business updates and strategic objectives to the team.
• Ensure compliance with people policies and foster a safe work environment.
• Lead by example and nurture a high-performing, engaged team.
