Job summary

Octopus Investments is seeking a Portfolio Manager to manage a portfolio of development finance facilities, monitor performance and interact with borrowers and stakeholders. You will assess credit risk, upgrade processes and support exit strategies while coordinating with legal, servicing and execution teams.

You will take ownership of the portfolio, escalate risks, and contribute to portfolio management improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in real estate lending, development finance, portfolio management, credit risk, loan servicing or related area.
• Experience managing borrower relationships and assessing loan performance, especially for complex/underperforming loans.
• Ability to interpret valuation, quantity surveying, legal and financial information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; strong stakeholder management.
• Highly organised with ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day requirements of a portfolio of development finance facilities from completion through repayment.
• Maintain detailed understanding of each facility, including credit structure, covenants, security and exit strategy.
• Identify emerging risks and escalate with recommendations.
• Support senior colleagues on underperforming and higher-risk loans.
• Escalate material risks promptly to senior management and committees.
• Monitor covenant compliance, facility performance and borrower reporting.
• Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers, sponsors, brokers and advisers.
• Manage routine consents, amendments and waivers; support restructurings and settlements.
• Coordinate with valuers, surveyors, lawyers, insolvency practitioners and receivers.
• Act as day-to-day contact for borrowers and coordinate queries.
• Review requests for amendments, extensions and funding; escalate complex matters.
• Prepare clear credit papers and recommendations for Committees.
• Undertake financial and commercial analysis; summarize key points to support decisions.
• Support refinancing, enforcement and recovery options to maximise investor outcomes.
• Seek feedback and build knowledge across credit, documentation and portfolio management.
• Contribute to development of portfolio management processes, controls and reporting.
