Job summary

Fawkes & Reece London is seeking a Development Engineer to support the North West housing programme. You will coordinate surveys, manage earthworks, and liaise with external consultants to progress site starts.

You will apply building legislation and highway/sewer standards, coordinate utility works, and contribute to pre-contract and project progress meetings within a small technical team.

Qualifications

• Experience in development in a housing environment and spoil/earthworks management across sites.
• Knowledge of building legislation, Highway Design Requirements and Water Authority Sewer Construction Requirements.
• Experience with multi-utility service installations.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
• Experience working for a major housing developer on complex sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer topographical surveys, geotechnical surveys, CCTV drainage surveys, utility surveys.
• General engineering support to Technical Manager and other departments.
• Engineering appraisals of prospective development land.
• Coordinate utility disconnections and diversions; new mains installations.
• Appoint external civil/structural consultants and check designs.
• Coordinate S38/S278 highway works, S104/S102 sewer agreements, S106 sewer connections.

Job Role: Development Engineer

Job Type: Full time / Permanent

A regional house builder seeks to appoint a Development Engineer to work on new build housing developments in the North West.

My client have built a reputation for building quality new homes throughout the North West. Their properties range from luxury detached houses to starter homes in up and coming regeneration areas, spacious family homes to city centre apartments.

Development Engineer Role

Reporting to the Technical Director and Engineering Manager you will control and coordination of all technical information between external consultants and internal departments to ensure all approvals are obtained and information received issued to allow for a programmed start on site. You will understand, implement and adhere to the company policy/strategy and become part of a small team of Engineers in a busy technical department. Duties to include:

• Coordination and administration of topographical surveys, geotechnical/geoenvironmental surveys, CCTV drainage surveys, utility surveys, structural surveys
• General engineering support to the Technical Manager; and the land, commercial, sales and customer care departments
• Engineering appraisals of prospective development land
• Coordination and implementation of utility service disconnections and diversions of existing utility apparatus.
• Coordination and administration of new utility mains installations
• Appointment of external civil engineering and structural engineering consultants, and the co-ordination and checking of the consultant's designs
• Coordination and administration of specialist foundation designs and quotations
• Coordination and administration of S38 and S278 highway works Agreements, S104 and S102 sewer adoption Agreements and S106 sewer connections applications
• Participation in pre-contract, pre-start and project progress meetings
• Management of spoil and general earthworks with a proactive approach to arranging and actioning the movement of soils between sites
• Commission and control of demolition and remediation contracts
• Liaison with Highway Engineers, Water Authority Engineers and Local Authority Officers
• Attending meeting and actioning remedial works with subcontractors o facilitate the ultimate and timely adoption of roads and sewers
• Daily use of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD, printing/plotting and processing of electronic drawing files

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience within development in a housing environment and management of spoil and general earthworks across sites
• Up to date relevant knowledge of building legislation, Highway Design Requirements and current Water Authority Sewer Construction Requirements.
• Previous working Knowledge of Multi Utility Service Installations
• Up to date relevant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
• Previous experience working for a major housing developer on complex housing sites
