Job summary

Objectway seeks a Development and Support Analyst in the United Kingdom. The role blends development and application support in a hybrid pattern, collaborating with analysts, QA, project management and other programmer/analysts to ensure smooth delivery.

The candidate will work on COBOL with embedded SQL, assist in creating specifications, and help with unit testing, while supporting customers and traveling to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Education to degree level preferred, however candidates will be primarily assessed on practical work experience.
• A minimum of 2 years commercial experience of COBOL.
• Good knowledge of COBOL with ‘embedded SQL’ coding.
• Business analysis skills would be advantageous.
• Ability to communicate ideas and thoughts clearly and concisely is essential.
• Presentation skills would be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel - occasional visits and working at client sites.
• Experience of COBOL.NET, VB.NET, GitLab, and developing financial systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hybrid role alternating between development and application support.
• Assist in producing detailed specifications and programming functional requirements; support unit testing.
• Support dedicated customer support team and be involved in all aspects of application support for Objectway products.

Development and Support Analyst

The individual will report to the Head of Development and will work in a hybrid role, alternating between development and application support on a rotational basis. The individual will work closely with business analysts, quality assurance, project management, and other programmer/analysts.

He/she will assist in the production of detailed specifications and programming functional requirements, and assist with unit testing and the preparation of technical specifications when necessary. Furthermore, working in a fast‑paced support environment, the candidate will assist the dedicated customer support team, reporting to the Support Manager, and be involved in all aspects of application support for Objectway products operated by customers.
