Job summary

Objectway Limited in London/Birmingham is seeking a Development and Support Analyst SB for a hybrid role, alternating between development and application support. You will collaborate with business analysts, QA, and project teams, producing specifications and assisting with testing.

Ideal candidates will have COBOL with embedded SQL and 2+ years of commercial COBOL experience, plus willingness to travel to client sites. Knowledge of COBOL.NET, VB.NET, GitLab, and financial systems is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree level preferred; practical work experience valued.
• A minimum of 2 years commercial COBOL experience.
• Good knowledge of COBOL with embedded SQL.
• Business analysis skills would be advantageous.
• Ability to communicate ideas and thoughts clearly and concisely is essential.
• Presentation skills would be advantageous.
• Willingness to travel - occasional visits and working at client sites.
• Experience with COBOL.NET, VB.NET, GitLab and developing financial systems is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support Objectway applications in a hybrid role.
• Assist in producing detailed specifications and programming requirements; help with unit testing.
• Support dedicated customer support team and report to the Support Manager.
• Involve in all aspects of application support for Objectway products operated by customers.

To strengthen our team in London/Birmingham we are currently looking for a:

Development and Support Analyst SB

The individual will report to the Head of Development and will work in a hybrid role, alternating between development and application support on a rotational basis. The individual will work closely with business analysts, quality assurance, project management, and other programmer/analysts.

He/she will assist in the production of detailed specifications and programming functional requirements, and assist with unit testing and the preparation of technical specifications when necessary. Furthermore, working in a fast‑paced support environment, the candidate will assist the dedicated customer support team, reporting to the Support Manager, and be involved in all aspects of application support for Objectway products operated by customers.

Requirements

• Education to degree level preferred, however candidates will be primarily assessed on practical work experience
• A minimum of 2 years commercial experience of COBO
• Good knowledge of COBOL with ‘embedded SQL’ coding
• Business analysis skills would be advantageous
• Ability to communicate ideas and thoughts clearly and concisely is essential
• Presentation skills would be advantageous
• Willingness to travel - occasional visits and working at client sites
• Experience in the following is considered as preferable: Experience of COBOL.NET, Experience of VB.NET, Experience of using GitLab, Experience of developing financial systems (Trading platforms; Financial messaging, security settlement).
