Development and Calibration Engineer, Leicester

This role is based in Alzenau, near Frankfurt/M., Germany, at Hyundai Motorsport GmbH, responsible for Hyundai's global motorsport activities.

We are seeking a creative Development and Calibration Engineer to join our Testing and Simulation Team. The role involves powertrain system thermo-fluids modeling and performance analysis to develop a competitive product.

Responsibilities

• Powertrain calibration at the test bench and race track (if required)
• Defining and overseeing test procedures for new powertrain components, software, or hardware
• Optimizing engine calibration and strategies for performance and reliability
• Providing innovative engineering solutions to practical issues
• Concept evaluation and analysis as part of a team
• Collaborating closely with product development teams
• Creating and validating robust engineering models
• Working with experienced engineers to solve complex problems
• Enhancing engineering skills through challenging projects

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field, with a focus on ICE
• At least 5 years of experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrain development
• Experience with hybrid powertrains is advantageous
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art TC-DI engine development and powertrain test bench calibration
• Familiarity with modern automated test equipment
• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages
• Strong manual dexterity and practical skills
• Formula SAE experience is highly preferred
• Deep understanding of ICE/powertrain testing and metrology
• Knowledge of internal combustion engine and powertrain fundamentals
• Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, CAN bus architecture
• Proficiency with data post-processing tools (e.g., Wintax, ATLAS)
• Proficiency in English; German skills are a plus or willingness to learn
