Development and Calibration Engineer, Chelmsford
Based in Alzenau, near Frankfurt/M. in Germany, Hyundai Motorsport GmbH is responsible for Hyundai's global motorsport activities.
We are currently looking for a creative Development and Calibration Engineer working within the Testing and Simulation Team. You will be involved in powertrain system thermo-fluids modelling and performance analysis to help produce a world-class product that provides a competitive advantage.
Responsibilities
- Powertrain calibration at the test bench and race track (if required)
- Defining test procedures for new powertrain items, software, or hardware, and overseeing their realization
- Optimizing engine calibration and strategies for maximum performance and reliability
- Providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges that benefit our product
- Evaluating and analyzing concepts independently while being part of a team
- Interacting with product development teams
- Creating and validating novel engineering solutions autonomously
- Developing robust and versatile models for innovation
- Collaborating with skilled engineers to identify problems and create solutions for a world-class product
- Enhancing engineering skills, knowledge, and scope
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field with ICE involvement
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrain
- Experience with hybrid powertrains is beneficial
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art TC-DI engine development, especially powertrain test bench calibration
- Experience with modern automated test equipment
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages
- Strong manual dexterity and practical skills
- Formula SAE experience is highly preferred
- Deep understanding of ICE/powertrain testing and metrology
- Knowledge of internal combustion engine and powertrain fundamentals
- Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, and CAN bus architecture
- Proficiency with data post-processing tools (e.g., Wintax, ATLAS)
- Proficiency in English and German (or willingness to learn) is a plus
