Development and Calibration Engineer, Basingstoke
Hyundai Motorsport GmbH, based in Alzenau near Frankfurt/M. in Germany, is responsible for Hyundai's global motorsport activities. We are currently looking for a creative Development and Calibration Engineer to work within the Testing and Simulation Team. Your role will involve powertrain system thermo-fluids modelling and performance analysis to help us produce a world-class product that offers a competitive advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Powertrain calibration at the test bench and, if required, on the race track
- Defining test procedures for new powertrain components, software, or hardware, and overseeing test execution
- Optimizing engine calibration and strategies for maximum performance and reliability
- Providing innovative solutions to engineering challenges to benefit our products
- Evaluating and analyzing concepts independently within a team environment
- Collaborating closely with product development teams
- Creating and validating novel engineering solutions autonomously
- Developing robust and versatile models for innovation
- Working with skilled engineers to solve problems and deliver a world-class product
- Enhancing engineering skills through challenging projects
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field, including ICE
- At least 5 years of experience in high-performance or motorsport powertrains
- Experience with hybrid powertrains is advantageous
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art TC-DI engine development, focusing on powertrain test bench calibration and development
- Experience with modern automated test equipment
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages
- Strong manual dexterity and practical skills
- Formula SAE experience is highly preferred
- Deep knowledge of ICE/powertrain testing and metrology
- Understanding of internal combustion engine and powertrain fundamentals
- Experience with test bench automation, combustion analysis, and CAN bus architecture
- Skills in data post-processing tools such as Wintax and ATLAS
- Proficiency in English and German (or willingness to learn) is a plus
