Job summary

Change Grow Live’s Park House inpatient detox unit in Birmingham is seeking a Sessional Healthcare Assistant to support initial health screenings and assist nursing staff, ensuring appropriate referrals to primary or secondary care.

The role includes supporting opiate stabilization and detoxification, BBV/HIV care liaison, phlebotomy, and basic life support with flexible days, nights and weekend shifts, offering training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience of working within substance misuse or a social care setting.
• Maintain professional boundaries and work effectively with partnership agencies.
• Ability to travel between services.

Responsibilities

• Undertake initial physical and mental health screening under the direction of a nurse.
• Perform measurements such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height/weight and ECGs as trained.
• Support inpatient opiate stabilization and detoxification and other substance detoxifications.
• Assist in care pathways for BBV/Hepatitis B/C and HIV.
• Facilitate referrals to community services and liaise with hospitals and GPs.
