Job summary

Hampshire Police invites applications for Detention Officers to support custody operations across Southampton, Portsmouth, Basingstoke or Isle of Wight. The role focuses on safeguarding detainees while maintaining high safety standards and efficient processes.

The position is based on a 37-hour week with shift work, including weekends and nights, and involves training and progression through the Criminal Justice System.

Qualifications

• Educated to QCF Level 3 A-levels (or equivalent).
• Ability to complete booking in process and dispose procedures for detainees.
• Provide care to detainees while maintaining safety and security.

Responsibilities

• Custody suite management and processing detainees.
• Take fingerprints, photographs and DNA as required.
• Monitor detainee condition and assist investigations.
• Ensure safety and security of staff and detainees.
• Support Custody Officer and assist with disposal procedures.
