Cambridgeshire Constabulary is recruiting Detention Officers for a permanent, full-time role at the new Milton custody facility, with work also at Thorpe Wood/Site in Peterborough. The post includes weekend and shift allowances, and a base salary of £27,204–£29,859 plus approx £7,000 in additional allowances.

Role involves multi-functional custody work, security, welfare, and administrative duties across 24/7 operations, with postings to Milton likely on opening.

Competenze

• Experience in the use of IT and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to operate, input and interrogate computer databases.
• Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to travel to work at any custody suite within Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

Mansioni

• Maintain security in and around the cell area and attend to welfare needs of detainees in custody.
• Process detainees including booking in, risk assessments and applying control measures.
• Record fingerprints, photographs, DNA, shoeprints and drug testing per policy.
• Verify detainee identity and pass results to the Custody Sergeant.
• Provide administrative support to ensure efficient custody unit operations.
• Record, store and supply information in line with legislation and policy.
• Convey detainees between arrest points and custody or other premises as required.
• Assist with video-link hearings and Remand/Short Bail processes.
