Job summary

Saica Pack, part of the Saica Group, is hiring a Despatch Operative to join our Thatcham site. You will help store, move and load finished goods while upholding safety and quality standards to support our UK customers.

The role requires forklift experience, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Competitive salary and onsite perks are offered.

Qualifications

• Forklift license and safety-focused approach are essential.
• Strong communication and teamwork capabilities are required.
• Ability to organise and prioritise workloads in a busy environment.
• Good PC literacy with Microsoft Office familiarity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to quality, health & safety and environmental standards.
• Carry out pre-shift FLT inspections and complete documentation.
• Report FLT defects and equipment breakdowns to the Team Leader.
• Complete safety observations and report accidents, near misses or damage.
• Ensure products, pallets and topboards are stored safely and correctly.
• Maintain safe access to gangways, doors, fire exits and firefighting equipment.
• Monitor product quality and report concerns about presentation, palletisation or labelling.
• Ensure stock is rotated correctly and records are accurate in Carpal.
• Transport and handle loads safely per procedures.
• Support Team Leaders in contractor compliance.
• Provide cross-departmental support as required.

The Role - Despatch Operative

We are currently seeking a Despatch Operative to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring the safe storage, movement and loading of finished goods while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency. As our Despatch Operative you will:

• Adhere to all legal requirements and company policies relating to Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental standards.
• Carry out pre-shift Fork Lift Truck (FLT) inspections and complete documentation.
• Report FLT defects and equipment breakdowns to the Team Leader.
• Complete behavioural safety observations and report accidents, incidents, near misses or property damage.
• Ensure products, pallets and topboards are stored safely and correctly.
• Maintain safe access to gangways, doors, fire exits and firefighting equipment.
• Monitor product quality and report any presentation, palletisation or labelling concerns.
• Ensure stock is rotated correctly.
• Maintain accurate stock and scanning records within Carpal.
• Transport and handle loads safely in line with company procedures.
• Support Team Leaders in ensuring contractors follow site procedures.
• Provide support to other departments as required.

What We're Looking For

• Forklift license.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience as a Forklift Truck Driver or in a similar logistics, warehouse or manufacturing role.
• Experience working within a fast-paced production environment.
• Basic PC literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience in any of the following areas would be advantageous: Forklift Operations, Logistics and Distribution, Manufacturing or Production Environment.
