Job summary

Saica Flex in Thatcham is seeking a Despatch Operative to ensure safe storage, movement and loading of finished goods. The role emphasises high standards of quality, safety and efficiency and requires adherence to all policies and legal requirements.

Responsibilities include pre-shift FLT inspections, defect reporting, stock rotation and accurate scanning records. A strong team mindset and keen attention to detail are essential for success in this busy operation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe storage, movement and loading of finished goods.
• Undertake pre-shift FLT inspections and complete documentation.
• Report FLT defects and equipment issues to the Team Leader.
• Maintain stock accuracy and proper records in Carpal.
• Ensure safe access, housekeeping and safe handling of loads.
• Support with contractor site procedures and cross‑department needs.

The Role – Despatch Operative

We are currently seeking a Despatch Operative to join our team.

This role is critical to ensuring the safe storage, movement and loading of finished goods while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency.

As our Despatch Operative you will:

• Adhere to all legal requirements and company policies relating to Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental standards.


• Carry out pre-shift Fork Lift Truck (FLT) inspections and complete documentation.


• Report FLT defects and equipment breakdowns to the Team Leader.


• Complete behavioural safety observations and report accidents, incidents, near misses or property damage.


• Ensure products, pallets and topboards are stored safely and correctly.


• Maintain safe access to gangways, doors, fire exits and firefighting equipment.


• Monitor product quality and report any presentation, palletisation or labelling concerns.


• Ensure stock is rotated correctly.


• Maintain accurate stock and scanning records within Carpal.


• Transport and handle loads safely in line with company procedures.


• Support Team Leaders in ensuring contractors follow site procedures.


• Provide support to other departments as required.
