Job summary

Pilgrims Europe in Bodmin is seeking a Despatch Line Leader to oversee loading, unloading and despatch activities, driving on-time delivery and accuracy across operations.

You will operate SAP handheld scanners, adhere to quality specifications, maintain PPE and safety, and assist the Despatch Manager to improve efficiency and cost control.

GCSE English and Maths are required; training will be provided for the role, which runs on a 4-on/4-off shift pattern.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at level 4 or equivalent.
• Experience preferred but training will be given.
• Computer skills and good data handling are required.
• Knowledge of KPI indicators including labour, yield, waste, and plan attainment.
• Ability to work under pressure and within budgets.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers to and from suppliers/sites and customers.
• Receive and transfer products on SAP handheld scanners, promptly and accurately.
• Understand quality requirements and customer specifications for the area.
• Complete all paperwork in a timely and correct manner.
• Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times.
• Ensure safe operation of all equipment within the area.
• Undertake additional training as required.
• Pick products following health and safety guidelines.
• Build pallets safely and wrap for loading onto vehicles.
• Follow stock rotation patterns at all times.
• Report stock or date issues to Line leader/Area leader.
• Raise quality fault with machinery to Area leader when needed.
• Ensure 5S is maintained and products are picked in full and on time.
• Ensure orders are despatched accurately and loaded within specification.
• Ensure vehicles are dispatched on time to customers.
• Follow procedures for non-conformity control and continually review for improvements.

Shift Pattern

• 4on/ 4off
• 06:00 -18:00

Key Responsibilities

• Load and unload trailers to and from a variety of suppliers / sites and customers.
• Receive and transfer products on SAP handheld scanners, completing this promptly and accurately.
• Fully understand different quality requirements and customer specifications for the area.
• Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely and correct manner.
• Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times.
• Ensure the safe operation of all equipment within the area.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
• Be committed to undertaking any additional training as may be required, which could include refresher or new training.
• Pick products following health and safety guidelines.
• Build pallets in a safe manner. Wrap picked / finished pallets in order to secure the product ready for loading onto a vehicle.
• Follow the stock rotation pattern at all times.
• Report any stock or date issues to the Line leader or Area leader
• Raise any issues about the quality of products to the Area leader before picking.
• Report any faults with machinery as soon as they happen.
• Ensure 5s is being completed and adhered too.
• Ensure products are picked in full and on time.
• Ensure all orders are despatched accurately and are loaded onto vehicles within specification
• Ensure vehicles are despatched on time to the customer.
• Follow the correct procedure for the control of non-conformity of the product.
• Continually monitor and review systems and procedures to look for methods of improving the effectiveness and cost efficiency of the function, raising ideas with the Despatch Manager.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• GCSEs Level 4 English and Maths or equivalent
• Experience preferred but all training will be given.
• Computer skills
• Knowledge of KPI indicators - labour, yield, giveaway, waste, plan attainment.
• Good knowledge of planning, processing, quality procedures.
• Ability to work under pressure and within budgets parameters.
• Ability to provide accurate data.
