Job Description:

Matchtech are working with a key client to recruit for x2 DPE's to work on a high profile railway project in Toronto.

These roles will require the successful candidates to relocate to Toronto.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting the project manager and project team with project documentation and control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision efforts. The candidate should be comfortable handling multiple tasks, prioritizing effectively, and working in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost-effective, high-quality, safe, and environmentally responsible approach to design, commissioning, and other technical activities on relevant projects, compliant with all relevant legislation. Liaise with regulators and others as appropriate.
• Engineer projects to the standards and specifications of the client, ensuring compliance with company standards, formal specifications, and procedures.
• Manage all engineering activities to deliver schemes that are affordable, meet programme requirements, and are completed safely, environmentally responsibly, within budget, and on time.
• Use relevant techniques and procedures for risk assessment and HAZOP analysis, managing environmental aspects of projects in accordance with the client's environmental policy.
• Monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors.
• Provide project management advice, including testing, commissioning, and site supervision, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
• Ensure internal and contractor’s design/specialist personnel are competent.
• Review design activities and arrange audits of contractors to monitor safety, environment, and quality of design, testing, and commissioning systems.
• Undertake duties of designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects.
• Share best practices across project teams.

The Ideal Candidate

• Relevant experience in signalling engineering, preferably with involvement in design projects across multiple disciplines.
• Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level.
• Knowledge of quality assurance processes.
• Understanding of independent assessment arrangements for work.
• Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or a degree-level education.
• Knowledge of structuring safety cases to support projects.
• Awareness of environmental issues related to engineering works.
