Job summary

AWD online is seeking a Design Technology Teacher to inspire students aged 11–16 in a well-resourced department focused on Product Design. The role includes delivering CAD-enabled lessons using modern workshops and equipment.

The position supports an experienced team, with technician assistance and opportunities for professional development. Maternity cover starting January 2027, with either full-time or 0.8 pattern in Hedge End.

Qualifications

• Secure Design Technology subject and curriculum knowledge, with the ability to support a Product Design focus.
• Ability to teach and engage students aged 11–16.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, professional standards and wider school life.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver well-structured Design Technology lessons.
• Assess progress and adapt teaching to differing student needs.
• Contribute to curriculum development and wider school life.
• Maintain health and safety in workshops.
