We are currently seeking a passionate Teacher of Design Technology to join a thriving secondary school in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students in a supportive and dynamic environment.

The Role:
We are looking for a motivated Teacher of Design Technology to deliver high-quality education to students at KS3 and KS4 levels. In this Temp role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons in areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, or Textiles, while also contributing to the wider school community. This role could be made permanent depending on the person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver Design Technology lessons that cater to the abilities of all students.
  • Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing regular feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Contribute to the development of the Design Technology curriculum and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Encourage creativity and innovation in students, fostering an enthusiasm for design and problem-solving.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive workshop/classroom environment that promotes learning and respect.
  • Engage with parents, guardians, and colleagues to support student success and wellbeing.

Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of teaching experience in a secondary school, with a strong understanding of the Design Technology curriculum.
  • Qualifications: A relevant degree in Design Technology or a related subject, along with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Training: Experience in classroom management and differentiated instruction. Familiarity with safeguarding policies and health and safety procedures in a workshop setting.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.

To be considered for the higher end of the salary bracket, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Advanced Teaching Experience: Extensive experience in teaching Design Technology at GCSE level, with a proven track record of student success.
  • Leadership or Coordinator Roles: Experience as a Design Technology subject lead, department coordinator, or involvement in extracurricular activities such as design clubs or competitions.
  • Professional Development: Continued professional development (CPD) in Design Technology education, including advanced training or certifications that enhance teaching practice.

Location:
This role is based in Derby, within a well-established secondary school. The school is easily accessible by public transport and offers a supportive working environment.
