Job summary

The Supply Register is seeking a Design Technology Teacher with a focus on Resistant Materials to support teaching at Dixons City Academy in Bradford. You will deliver engaging practical and theory lessons across the secondary phase, helping students design, manufacture and evaluate their own products.

Ideal candidates hold QTS or an equivalent qualification, with strong Resistant Materials knowledge and workshop experience. Collaborative team environment, weekly pay, and ongoing CPD available.

Qualifications

• Must hold QTS or recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge and practical experience in Resistant Materials.
• Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level.
• Comfortable working in a workshop environment with a range of tools and materials.
• Excellent classroom behaviour management and organisational skills.
• Proactive, flexible and supportive approach to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Teach Design Technology with a focus on Resistant Materials.

• Support students to design, manufacture and evaluate their own products.
• Create and maintain a safe, well-organised workshop environment.
• Manage behaviour and maintain high expectations.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with Design Technology colleagues.

About the Role

As a Design Technology Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the secondary phase.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching Design Technology with a focus on Resistant Materials
• Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons
• Developing students' knowledge of materials, tools, processes and manufacturing techniques
• Supporting students to design, manufacture and evaluate their own products
• Creating and maintaining a safe, well-organised and purposeful workshop environment
• Managing behaviour effectively and maintaining high expectations
• Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback
• Working collaboratively with colleagues within the Design Technology department

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised teaching qualification
• Strong subject knowledge and practical experience in Resistant Materials
• Experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
• Confidence working in a workshop environment and using a range of tools, materials and equipment
• Strong behaviour management and classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• A proactive, flexible and supportive approach
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
