Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is assisting a secondary school in Harlow to recruit a Design and Technology Teacher for a January start. The role involves delivering both practical and theoretical lessons across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to work on Product Design, Resistant Materials or Graphics depending on timetable needs.

You will plan engaging lessons, ensure safe workshop practices, and assess both practical work and written understanding while collaborating with colleagues on curriculum

Qualifications

• Design and Technology teacher capable of teaching across KS3 and KS4.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Design and Technology, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics or related discipline.
• Recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE with QTS or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of design processes, materials, practical skills and subject theory.
• Ability to plan engaging lessons and assess practical work and written understanding.
• Commitment to workshop safety, effective behaviour management and inclusive teaching.
• Legal eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Teach across KS3 and KS4 delivering lessons that cover practical and theoretical aspects of Design and Technology.
• Deliver well-planned lessons, maintain high workshop/classroom safety, and assess practical work and written understanding.
• Contribute to curriculum planning and share resources with colleagues to support student learning.
• Help students develop technical skills, creativity and problem-solving abilities through practical projects.
• Promote a positive learning environment and effective behaviour management within the department.
