Job summary

Birchwell Associates is seeking a Design Systems Designer for a permanent, hybrid role in London. You will design and maintain reusable components, tokens and shared foundations to help product teams deliver consistent, accessible experiences at scale.

Collaborate with product designers, UI designers and frontend engineers to evolve design tokens, libraries and governance across multiple products, while improving accessibility and documenting standards.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience in product, UI or design-system design.
• Strong Figma knowledge, including components, variants, variables and libraries
• A portfolio demonstrating scalable component and system thinking
• Good understanding of accessibility, responsive design and design tokens
• Experience collaborating closely with frontend engineers, ideally around Storybook
• Strong documentation, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable components, patterns, tokens and shared foundations
• Develop and govern Figma libraries, variables, documentation and contribution standards
• Partner with frontend engineers to align design components with coded components
• Improve accessibility, consistency and scalability across product experiences
• Support adoption through guidance, workshops, critique and practical documentation
• Measure system usage, identify gaps and prioritise the design-system roadmap
