Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead Transmission & Distribution design projects across the UK & Ireland. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams, from substations to cables and HVDC systems, driving projects from concept to completion.

You will manage scope, cost and schedule while maintaining safety and quality standards. This role offers a hybrid model and opportunities to work on flagship national grid projects with a global leader.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical or power systems engineering or equivalent.
• Experience managing multi-discipline design projects for UK & Ireland clients.
• Proven client relationship management and business development skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Chartered engineer status is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Oversee UK & Ireland design projects, coordinating with Discipline Leads, PMs and Directors.
• Act as Technical Project Manager for multi-disciplinary designs including substations, cables, protection & control, civils, OHL.
• Involve in large programmes like the UK National Grid Great Grid Partnership.
• Manage lifecycle from concept through FEED to detailed engineering and commissioning.
• Ensure safety, environmental, sustainability and quality standards are met.
• Provide progress updates on costs, schedules and design challenges; mentor team members.
