Job summary

Solution Search Limited - Construction is seeking an experienced Design Manager or Project Manager for a long-term freelance role with a Tier 1 refurbishment contractor in London. You will steer the design process from pre-construction through delivery, coordinate consultants, architects and specialist subcontractors, and ensure design information aligns with the programme.

Projects range up to £50m; ideal candidates have Tier 1 exposure and a strong refurbishment or high-end fit-out background,

Qualifications

• Ideal background in Tier 1/main contractor environments.
• Experience in refurbishment and/or high-end fit-out projects.
• Projects typically £10m-£50m+ and in combined design/project role.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design process from pre-construction through delivery.
• Coordinate consultants, architects and specialist subcontractors.
• Review drawings, submissions and design information.
• Identify buildability issues before they affect site.
• Drive design information in line with the programme.
• Collaborate with commercial and site delivery teams.
• Chair design and progress meetings.
• Take wider PM responsibility when required.

Freelance Design Manager / Project Manager

Tier 1 Refurbishment Contractor | Projects up to £50m

Long-Term Freelance Opportunity

I'm looking for an experienced Design Manager or Project Manager with strong design experience to join a leading Tier 1 refurbishment contractor on a long-term freelance basis.

The contractor delivers major refurbishment and fit-out schemes with project values up to £50m.

This doesn't necessarily need to be a traditional Design Manager. I'm very interested in speaking with Project Managers who are technically strong and comfortable taking responsibility for both project delivery and the design process.

The role will include:

• Managing the design process from pre-construction through delivery
• Coordinating consultants, architects and specialist subcontractors
• Reviewing drawings, technical submissions and design information
• Identifying buildability issues before they impact site
• Driving design information in line with the construction programme
• Working closely with the commercial and site delivery teams
• Chairing design and progress meetings
• Taking wider PM responsibility where required

Ideal background:

• Tier 1 / established main contractor experience
• Strong refurbishment and/or high-end fit-out background
• Projects ideally £10m-£50m+
• Design Manager, Project Manager or technically biased Construction Manager
• Comfortable operating in a combined Design / Project Management role
