Design Manager Interior Fit-Out Subcontractor

£40k - £50k dependant on experience

The Company

My client is a leading interior specialist subcontractor working alongside blue chip contractors on some of the most prestigious landmark projects in Central London.

The Role: An exciting position working as part of a team managing the day-to-day activities of the design team. The candidate will be required to have a can-do attitude and be proactive in their approach. They will report to the Contracts Director and work closely with the Contracts Managers, Production Manager, and sales team. Attention to detail & accuracy of information is required in this role. Use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office is essential, as well as good verbal and written skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the design team on a day-to-day basis.
2. Delegate work to the design team.
3. Check drawings (work produced) as required.
4. Undertake staff reviews as required.
5. Take responsibility with resourcing as required.
6. Train other staff members as/if required.
7. Actively promote continuous improvement.
8. Attend design business meetings as required.
9. Attend design meetings both internally and externally with clients, designers, architects.
10. Assist the sales team as required.
11. Program drawing work to satisfy the business and meet commitments.
12. Notify line manager of any problems or concerns as early as possible.
13. Take care of company property and report any defects.

The Successful Candidate:

• Experience managing a design team is essential.
• This role involves the day-to-day management of an existing team of designers.
• A good understanding of MF (ceiling) systems would be highly beneficial.
• A design flair would be helpful, especially to understand architectural details and origination.
• Good knowledge of 2D AutoCAD is essential; experience with 3D software such as SolidWorks or Revit is a plus.
