Job summary

Canary Wharf Group is seeking a Design Manager in London to lead the design team and co-ordinate contractor designers, delivering complete construction details with emphasis on quality, buildability, cost, safety and ESG considerations. The role reports to the Director - Structures and involves coordinating multiple design disciplines across packages to ensure timely, robust design outputs.

The successful candidate will be a Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) with proven design management

Qualifications

• Design management experience on major multi-disciplinary, preferably high rise, projects.
• Chartered Engineer or suitably qualified technician with UK or international recognition.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence decisions.

Responsibilities

• Understand and support Client’s aims and objectives.
• Discharge health and safety responsibilities as per policy and plan.
• Manage design process and interfaces; monitor progress against programme.
• Assist with development of construction strategy, design criteria, scopes and deliverables.
• Coordinate design information, samples, mock-ups and risk assessments.
• Review contractor design proposals and technical submittals.
• Assist with procurement strategies and contract documentation.
• Support handover with as-built records and lessons learned.
