Job Description:

Salter Grange is seeking a proactive Design Manager to join one of the UK's largest privately owned construction companies for a long-term contract role based in the London office.

The company has an impressive annual turnover of £2 billion and a busy schedule of projects. They are looking to recruit a Design Manager with CAT B experience to work on London-based Commercial Fit-out/Refurbishment projects valued between £5m - £20m.

The successful candidate will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, supporting a commercial fit-out/refurbishment scheme in the UK, from preconstruction to handover.

• Coordinate project team comments and resolve design-related construction queries with the design team.
• Demonstrate management qualities to encourage effective coordination and collaboration between design and construction teams to meet project goals.
• Understand project requirements, including client brief, business processes, and employer requirements.
• Assist in mitigating design risks as part of the team.
• Participate in design coordination and progress meetings with the design team and subcontractors, ensuring design risk assessments are produced.
• Support in producing contractors' proposals.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and oversee a pragmatic design timeline and information schedule.
• Qualifications: HNC in Building Studies, Degree in Design Management or Architecture.
• Experience: Previous experience in the commercial fit-out sector with an architectural practice or principal contractor, including CAT B experience.
• Ideally, exposure to public or governmental projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and effective communication with multiple stakeholders.
