Job summary

FC Engineering Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Design Manager to lead an established CAD design team in Cornwall. You will oversee design and development of bespoke engineered products from concept to manufacture, leveraging strong 3D CAD skills and a background in mechanical engineering or fabrication.

You will manage workload, ensure manufacturability, and work closely with production and project teams to drive robust, cost-effective designs.

Qualifications

• Strong 3D CAD experience with exposure to concept to manufacture.
• Experience leading or managing a design team.
• Background in mechanical design, fabrication or bespoke manufacturing.
• Understanding of design for manufacture and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support an experienced team of CAD Designers and Design Engineers.
• Oversee design projects from concept through to manufacture.
• Produce and review detailed 3D models, technical drawings and manufacturing docs.
• Collaborate closely with production and project management teams.
• Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and manufacturable.
• Manage workloads, deadlines and technical priorities within the design team.
• Support continuous improvement across the design department.
